| Hello Friend, Few topics are more controversial in our culture than that of sexual identity. Whether we’re talking about homosexuality or transgenderism, anyone who dares to suggest that these expressions of sexuality fall outside of God’s design is sure to be labeled a “homophobe” or a “bigot” — or worse. You’ve probably been confronted by this issue in your own family or professional relationships, and if your kids are in school, they have, too. Every day, we are bombarded with the message that any and all forms of sexual expression are healthy and praiseworthy. The pressure — from the media, from schools, and even from friends and family — is immense. As Christians, we are called to love all people. None of us wants to be seen as “hateful” simply because we embrace a biblical sexual ethic! If you feel overwhelmed by this issue, I have good news for you. We’ve produced a FREE series of short videos called “Discovering the Truth About My Identity” featuring Jackie Hill-Perry, the acclaimed poet and hip-hop artist and author of Gay Girl, Good God. Jackie recently joined me and John Fuller in the Focus on the Family Broadcast studio to share her testimony of spending years in the LGBTQ community before having a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ.
While she had built her identity around her sexual orientation, how many of us have built our own lives around sinful pursuits? Jackie discovered, and encourages us in this series, that in order to live truly and deeply, we must find our identities on Christ.
