If you're staring resentfully at a bowl of fruit instead of savoring a big brunch this morning, I understand. We're one week into a new year and resolutions are on my mind too. Some of you have personal goals like less screen time. (One pro tip from the writer Paul Greenberg: Ditch your smartphone altogether for a year and you'll have time to make love about 16,000 times; read Marcel Proust's "In Search of Lost Time" almost 20 times; and save enough money to buy half an acre of land.) Others have hopes for the new year: for love, for political change, even for moderate weather. If your head is still in 2018 — and you're still writing the year incorrectly like I am — take the weekend to remain there and peruse The Times's Year in Pictures. It will give you a moment to reflect on the past and consider how it can prepare you for the future. — Alexandra March
