Hey, movie fans! It's your faithful Carpetbagger.

I'm coming to you from the Toronto International Film Festival, which officially kicked off last night. The previous edition of TIFF brought us the eventual best-picture winner, "Green Book," so we're all curious whether there's something in this year's lineup that could come out of nowhere and become the movie to beat. At the very least, there's a killer lineup of premieres in the festival's first weekend, including Tom Hanks in "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood," Rian Johnson's starry whodunit "Knives Out," the eccentric Nazi satire "Jojo Rabbit" from the "Thor: Ragnarok" director Taika Waititi, as well as "Hustlers," where an ensemble led by Constance Wu and Jennifer Lopez go from strippers to clever criminals.

Speaking of "Hustlers," my colleague Mekado Murphy will be interviewing Lopez in Toronto this week and he'll be asking some of your questions! Post your queries in the comments here and maybe you'll get a response from J. Lo herself.

When it comes to big movies arriving this weekend, the horror sequel "It Chapter Two" is the only game in town. Still, you can find a bunch of smaller entries if you're in the mood for counterprogramming, including the Critics' Pick coming-of-age movie, "Jinn," and documentaries like "Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice," "Raise Hell: The Molly Ivins Story," and the Harvey Weinstein documentary "Untouchable," which is premiering on Hulu.
