How to Help Others While You're Sheltered in Place

Help Others from Home

From yard work for neighbors to donating blood to refraining from using wi-fi for streaming during work hours, here are some more practical ideas for helping those affected by the virus.

Bake Sourdough Bread

With more time to spend in your kitchen, try making your own homemade bread. Then, leave a loaf on a neighbor's porch with a kind note. Just make sure to wash your hands throughout the process.
Support Local Eateries

Dining-in might not be an option, but you can still get yummy food and help local restaurants by ordering takeout. Here are safety tips for doing so. As a bonus, consider buying a gift card too.
Share Gratitude

Make somebody's day by letting them know how much they mean to you. Everything from a thank you card to a listening ear can make those around you feel loved.
Donate to a Charity

Even if you can't help others in person, empower others to do so by choosing a charity to support. There are many nonprofits continuing their missions of feeding, clothing, and caring for their communities!
Participate in a Bear Hunt

Younger kids may be struggling to stay entertained and happy without the distraction of schoolwork and friends. Cheer them up by taking part in this simple neighborhood game based on a children's book.
