Hey, movie fans!

Perhaps, just maybe, you've heard that there's a "Sopranos" movie prequel.

"The Many Saints of Newark" is now in theaters and on HBO Max. Unfortunately, our critic prefers the TV series. "The best thing about 'The Many Saints of Newark' is that it makes you think about 'The Sopranos,'" Manohla Dargis writes, "but that's also the worst thing about it."

In preparation, read an interview with one of the film's stars, Michael Gandolfini (son of James), check out our "Sopranos" family tree and watch a scene of a young Tony already getting himself into trouble.

The new James Bond film, "No Time to Die," doesn't arrive in the United States until Oct. 8, but it has opened in other parts of the world. We have a (mixed) review, as well as a highly entertaining interview with the film's star, Daniel Craig, playing 007 for the last time.

A couple of other star vehicles (one considerably more expensive than the other) are out now as well. Tom Hardy is back as a journalist with an alien side in "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" (only in theaters). And Jake Gyllenhaal takes on a heroic, if not superhero, role in the nearly-one-man drama "The Guilty," streaming on Netflix.

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures has, at long last, opened in Los Angeles. Dargis took a stroll through its halls and offered some thoughts.

And science-fiction lovers who are anticipating the arrival of "Dune" later this month can get their sci-fi fix with a handful of under-the-radar films available to stream now.

Enjoy the movies!
