Those weren't the only lists drawing our attention this month. After the British magazine Sight and Sound unveiled its once-a-decade poll of the greatest movies ever, we took a deep dive into the results last week to understand how the survey became more global and more inclusive. Dargis and Scott mostly applauded the poll's outcome — "Jeanne Dielman, 23, Quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles," by Chantal Akerman, moved to the top — in a lively conversation that also delved into which films they would have liked to make the cut. (Speaking of lively conversations, reader comments on the Top 10s and the Sight and Sound analysis are worth checking out; you all are a tough crowd!) |
