Movies Update: 'Like a Boss' and More

Plus, Hoffa vs. Hoffa, how two actors found their character.

Hey, movie fans!

The twists and turns of awards season have given us much to mull over this week, but I confess I’ve mostly been thinking a lot about Patricia Arquette in a viking helmet. That was the most memorable thing I saw at the Golden Globes after-parties, which included Joaquin Phoenix canoodling with Rooney Mara, Tiffany Haddish leaping behind the DJ booth at two separate parties, and Al Pacino doing a little shimmy on the dance floor.

But what can beat the sight of Globe-winner Patricia Arquette sitting at a banquette after midnight, wearing sunglasses, couture and a party helmet with two giant horns? Some of the stars don completely different outfits in between the main show and the after-parties, but Arquette was like, “You know what? All I need is a viking helmet and I’m good to go.” It’s the most fun thing I saw all night. Hollywood starlets, take her picture to your stylists.

With awards-season holdovers like “1917” and “Just Mercy” finally entering wide release, there aren’t a lot of notable new movies in the marketplace this weekend: You’ve got the Kristen Stewart thriller “Underwater,” the Tiffany Haddish/Rose Byrne comedy “Like a Boss,” and documentaries “System K” and “Earth.” Will you be watching something brand-new, or catching up on big awards contenders in advance of the Oscar nominations this Monday?
